Have a good physique to pay from raw materials: most manufacturers do not own steel pipe, steel mills often to order raw material (steel pipes and joints). On the basis of the design requirements, the drilling rod manufacturer will select the proportion of the steel according to the design requirements. Commonly used is the "chrome molybdenum steel", in order to achieve the specific requirements, but also add silicon, nickel, vanadium and other elements. The iron and steel plant will produce and supply to the drill pipe plant according to the ratio scheme.
The drill pipe executes the standard of API5DP (AmericanPetroleumInstitute, American Petroleum Society). The steel is divided into E75, X95, G105 and S135 according to the strength, and some even use V150. The higher the grade of the steel, the greater the strength. Adding different elements such as carbon, chromium, manganese and molybdenum can improve the strength and hardness of steel, and also improve the mechanical properties of high temperature, so that it has good oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance.
The selection of steel grade for drilling tools needs "local conditions". The higher the steel grade, the greater the mechanical strength, including the properties of tensile, torsion and extrusion resistance. But at the same time, because of the increase of carbon content, it will bring bad effects: on the one hand, steel corrosion resistance become worse, so for some containing hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide cannot be used well high plasticity and toughness; on the other hand drill will worsen when drilling "encounter horizontal dogleg" large angle bending test, it is easy to break, because too brittle! Therefore, in the proportion of elements, the strength, toughness and plasticity of steel should be considered comprehensively, according to the requirements of construction "local conditions".
